Five Favorites: My Husband

Justin's birth week began with a get together last Saturday at our friend's house.
Photo booths are always present!

Yesterday my handsome husband turned 27!  When I think about 27, it feels so much older than 26.  Why is that?!

To celebrate, I made a home cooked meal, tried a new mint oreo desert recipe {hubby loves mint and oreo} and we ended the night taking a nap at 7:30 right after dinner so we could wake up at 10:00pm to watch the Ohio State basketball game; which Justin fell asleep through.  I tell ya, we are party animals around here.

There are so many things that I love about Justin, but in honor of his birth week, I will give you some of my five favorites.  {in no particular order}:

  1. I love how silly we are together and how much we make each other laugh.
  2. I love that he loves ice cream as much as I do.
  3. I love that Justin always tries to give a positive perspective on things.
  4. I love that he is a little adventurous and spontaneous when it comes to picking up and going somewhere.
  5. Justin works very hard, but never brings his work home with him.  He is always ready for family time as soon as he walks in the door.
Today, tomorrow and probably Sunday we are going to continue celebrating husband's birth week, because that's how we like to do things in this household.  Why only celebrate one day?!

I hope you all have a fun weekend!  Don't forget some green tomorrow.
Oh, and there might be another Sweet Tooth Saturday post happening tomorrow with these tasty treats:

Recipe coming tomorrow!  AND they will double as a St. Patrick's Day treat because they have green in them!  Perfect timing.

Five Favorites: Photoshop and photography links

I spend a lot of time in Photoshop and with my camera.  I have learned a lot through trial and error and have also stumbled across some amazing sites that have pointed me in the right direction.  Thank goodness for the internet and the ability to search just about anything!  Over the past month I have discovered all of these sites/blog posts and spent a lot of time playing, learning and creating.   Today I am sharing them all with you.  Have fun!

Five Favorites: Etsy Treasuries

Recently I have been included in some pretty amazing treasuries I wanted to share with you all! In case you are unfamiliar with Etsy treasuries, it's a collection of 16 Etsy listings that relate to a specific theme chosen by the curator.

A treasury can be created by any Etsy memeber and it can be very time consuming searching for the perfect items. I have created two treasuries in the past and I remember spending at least an hour on each one. They are carefully thought out and if your treasury is unique and well organized, it can appear on the front page (eek!) of Etsy for all of the shoppers to see that day! That's a big deal for the curator and the shops featured in the treasury! So, if you have an Etsy shop and someone includes your handmade or vintage item in their treasury, be sure to thank them for choosing you!

If you follow me on Pinterest, you will notice I have started quite the collection of DIY pins.  Even though I have not yet attempted 90% of my crafting and DIY pins, I love knowing I have a lot of options organized in one place for when I am ready to create something new.

If you are looking to do some crafting this week for Valentine's Day, I recommend checking out some of these easy tutorials and decorations.  You can repin them to your pinterest account by clicking on the photo, or click directly through to the original source website listed just below each photo.

Five Favorites: Saving Memories

With the start of a new year, it's the perfect time to start new traditions.  If you are anything like me, I have a horrible memory.  When I think back to 2011, I can remember the big events, but I am sure there were several great little moments that don't come to mind right away.

Sometimes it's the little things that make life so lovely.

If you are looking for new ways to preserve memories throughout the new year, here are some great ideas:

Five Favorites: Encouraging Prints

2011 has been an eventful year with many high's and wonderful experiences. From new towns, experiences, friends and products it has been a wonderful ride. I can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for Little Blue Feather. With some encouraging words, new ideas and lessons learned, I am ready to start planning for a new year!

Five Favorites: Hey Girl.

Last night was one of those nights that I couldn't sleep, so I opened my computer and started "browsing".  This was a bad idea which lead to me leaving the room because of uncontrollable laughter.

I have seen a couple hey girl photos of Ryan Gosling floating around the web, but didn't realize the amount of submitted images there were with his beautiful face talking to us crafters.  Thank you whoever came up with this website!

It's funny because I think I heard Mr. Sharkey say the same thing Ryan did in the 4th and 5th photos ;)

Five Favorites: Texture

I seem to always be attracted to items with texture.  Maybe it isn't even a texture I can feel, but one I can see.  I love pressed flowers, ruffles, pleats, lace, felt, feathers, buttons, and layers in the items I own, make or buy for the house.

Recently my love for texture has extended past home decor, clothing and accessories, and into the everyday things I see.  I am amazed by all of the natural texture around us.  Taking a walk with my camera is one of the ways I get easily inspired.

Five Favorites: Nail Color

I have always been the type of girl who is really into products.  One thing about me is that I have super sensitive skin that loves to breakout and react to stress, scents and rough textures.  Because of my sensitive skin, I have spent a lot of time in the beauty and cosmetics aisle at Target and made special trips to stores like Sephora and Ulta.  Over the past several years, I have been on the look out for new skin care and makeup.  After spending so much time in these departments, a fun new product started calling my name.  Nail Polish.

When I shop for skin care, I don't feel as guilty as when I am shopping for nail polish.  I can justify my purchases for an all natural body wash, soap or facial moisturizer; but when it comes to nail polish, it's completely self-indulgent.

Last month at my friend's wedding, I couldn't decide what color to paint my nails.  I tried a new color on every finger, with the full intention of using one of their new OPI sparkly polishes for my bling finger.  My friend Aubrey, the bride, was so carefree about what we wanted to do with our look that day and she encouraged me to go for it.  So I ended up with four orange nails and one light blue super sparkly bling ring finer nail.  It sure made me feel young and fun :)  Justin on the other hand saw my nails and jokingly said "Umm...who let Michelle make her own decisions today?!" ;)

Not only have I been into different colors, I also love looking at fun designs people have done with their nails.  It is almost like a new form of art I am falling in love with.  Here are five of my favorite nail art designs I have found online recently:
