Model Profile...Meet Gretchen!

Gretchen was my roommate my freshman year at Ohio State and we have been best of friends since!  She is a a graduate, wife, sister, best friend, crafter, artist, world traveler, auntie and adventurer!  Woah, that's a lot of things!  When my husband and I moved 3 hours north for his job, the great thing about that was the short one hour drive I was from Gretchen and her family.  It has made us even closer and I really appreciate her husband, sister and parents for making their home a second home for me.

So, now about the modeling...  Gretchen is pretty easy going, and whenever I ask her "hey do you want to model?"  She always says "Sure!", puts on her favorite hand made earrings and a smile.  Gretchen has really gorgeous natural red curly hair that is perfect for modeling hair accessories!  Sometimes I think, "Wow, that probably doesn't even look half as good in my dull brown straight hair!"  I really appreciate her willingness to model and all the inspiration and encouragement she gives Little Blue Feather.  You will be seeing her later in the year when I start my monthly artist spotlights/interviews!  For now, here are some great photos of Gretchen and LBF accessories.

I had the chance to visit Gretchen earlier this week, and she decided to give me my birthday present a little early....

I love my hand made bracelet and earrings!  Thank you so much Gretchen!  I was just asked on a date tonight ;)  Looks like I will be wearing them to dinner and a movie on this fabulous Friday!

Felt Flowers and Feathers....oh my!

Last week was the week that fabric flowers and feathers took over my work space!  Felt, feathers and strips of cotton fabric were everywhere.  The past couple days I have had the chance to photograph new products and add new listings to etsy, all of which are hair accessories!  It has been a fun week and I can't wait to wear some new flowers myself.  My personal favorite is the berry purple hydrangea hair clip!  I am thinking this clip in white is going to be the perfect addition to my Easter and birthday outfit!

When I was working on new accessories last week, I decided to go ahead and make two or three while I have all the materials out and ready.  All of the cotton fabric flowers have multiples ready to sew on to onesies or have as inventory for future orders or upcoming craft shows.  But then this also got me thinking, what if I sold the fabric flowers in sets?!  How cute would it be to have these little hair clips at a garden party, for bridesmaids, party favors at a little girl's birthday or as photography props for your clients?!  So what I have decided to give a try is a set of 6 = $30 ($5 each equaling $6 savings) and a set of 10 = $45 ($4.50 each equaling $15 savings).  How fun!

You can view all the new listings here.  Thanks for visiting!  Check out a few photos of new listings below.  I will see you tomorrow!

Each hair clip is machine and hand sewn for lasting quality.

Fresh Picked Flowers

So as mentioned at the beginning of the week, I dedicated this weeks free work time to making new flower accessories!  I have so many beautiful new fabrics and supplies that I have loved getting to cut up and use this week.

My favorite fabric store, Sew to Speak, is located in Columbus, OH which is about an hour and 20 minutes from my home.  Every time I walk in, I am in awe of how adorable their shop is and also the amazing collection of designer fabrics they carry.  Last week, I purchased some of their wool felt for the first time, and I am now hooked!  The quality, colors and feel of the felt is perfect for creating beautiful little flower accessories!  I have not been able to find 100% wool felt like this before.  Below are some of the new items I made this week with my lovely felt.

I would love to hear if there is a favorite of yours!

Also,

Months ago my dad gave me some of my grandma's old lace that he saved, along with lots and lots of buttons.  Since then, I have had a large rubbermaid box filled to the top of all kinds of lace staring at me waiting to be pulled out and experimented with.  Today was that day!  While in the flower mode, I decided to give a lace flower a try.  I must say the colors are not my typical style, but given the right outfit, I would love to wear it this spring!  Take a look...

I am hoping to take pictures this weekend of the new printed cotton fabric flowers I created this week to share with you all!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
