Funny Friday: Grocery Superhero

The past few days I've had halloween and fall clothing on my mind for the pups.  I know, I know....clothing for the pups?  Stanlee wears a thunder shirt at times for his anxiety and actually enjoys a shirt to keep his skinny body warm.  And Miley, well she just looks hilarious in a costume.

How adorable is this dachshund that's ready to take on the world.
Or the grocery store.
Either way ;)

Favorite from October

There are so many things I love about this photo that I am not sure where to begin.

I am pretty sure by this point you all have met Stanlee, our super sweet little boston terrier that I can't get enough of.  Stanlee is "the baby" of our family.  We adopted him when he was just over a year old and he is the youngest of our two kids dogs.  It took a lot of adjusting to him and visa versa but through it all he has turned into an amazing dog that is extremely loyal and loving toward our family.  If you want to learn more about stanlee, you can read his story here.

This photo was taken Halloween weekend when we were playing in the park at our apartment complex after all the trick or treaters were gone.  My husband had our camera and was trying to take pictures of this dog dressed up as a lobster running around the park and rolling around in mud.  This pup he was trying to photograph was our other boston MileyJo.  {We are such proud parents of her -wink}  While Miley was being her hyper, miss independent self, Stanlee sat right next to me.  We were just hangin out.  I said to Justin, you should get pictures of Stanlee instead.  Out of all the photos from the park, this is my favorite.  This picture explains Stanlee perfectly.

What I love:
  • The way Stanlee is looking at me
  • His sweater paired with his handmade collar and bow-tie from his momma
  • My blue tights
  • New boots
  • The casualness of the photo
Sometimes you have a photo that you could look at several times a day and every time you smile.  This is that photo for me.

Happy Halloween - Chipotle style

Ever since college, my favorite thing about Halloween is free burrito day at Chipotle.  The past 5 years I have dressed up in something ridiculous and hand made to walk proudly into my favorite little restaurant to get a free burrito.  Up until this year, the deal was to dress up in foil to get your free burrito.  You could be whatever you wanted, as long as you were dressed in foil!
Two years ago Justin and I were at a Chipotle in Michigan.  Justin was popeye-ish and I was love struck!

This year, Chipotle changed things up and you had to dress in something found on a farm to help raise awareness of their local and organic vegetables they use in their restaurants.  Also, instead of free burritos, they charged $2 and $1 was donated back to the farms.

We knew we didn't want to purchase anything for our costumes, so we had to get a little creative ;)

Husband is wearing a plaid shirt, work boots, hat and a fake corn stalk that was in his corn hole trophy cup from his company corn hole tournament! ...and he is too hungry to look up.
I wore Miley's rooster costume!  Luckily her hat fit me and I took the body part, tied it around my waist so the tail feathers were showing just below my white sweater.  Completed with tights and tan boots ;)
I never thought I would wear the same costume as Miley.  Especially in public at Chipotle.

I am slightly addicted to Chipotle!  I order the same thing every time:

Burrito bowl with:
  • rice
  • black beans
  • tomato
  • corn
  • cheese
  • guacamole
  • chips & tomato salsa
It might sound a little plain, but that's ok.  Any other Chipotle addicts out there?!  Don't tell me I am the only one {-wink}

Happy Halloween friends!

Is it really "FUN"?

Something I have never understood about Halloween candy is the fact that they sell large bags of "fun size" candy bars.  "Fun size"?!  In my opinion, I don't understand what is so "fun" about a tiny little package of skittles that only gives you 5 pieces of candy or a Butterfinger bar the size of my thumb.  I think they should all be called minis and the king size bars would be better named as fun size bars.  Because lets be honest, in candy land, size matters!

October Colors

October in the midwest is absolutely beautiful.  I {along with most others} would probably say this is my favorite month of the year.  Although I have always enjoyed this time of year, something about this October is a little more special.

In addition to the traveling, two weddings and family time I have done already this October, I have enjoyed this season more here in our new city and home.  When I first heard about us moving to Cleveland, I was excited, but also a little like cleeeveland?!  Let me tell you friends, just south of Cleveland is actually pretty great in my opinion!  Between Akron and Cleveland there are two zoos, several metro parks, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and a lot of outdoor places and festivals.  What does this mean?! LOTS of trees!  and hiking.  and biking. and farmers markets in the parks. outdoor concerts.  you get the idea?!  Right now they are covered with golden, orange and red leaves waiting to fall from the trees any day now.  It is simply beautiful to see against a light blue sky.  Our last town we lived in was very flat with no trees or anything exciting.  Although I didn't like our last area, I love that it has made me appreciate our new area so much more.

Here are some photos of the beautiful fall colors I have seen the past week.

PS - None of these photos are saturated.  They were naturally this vibrant and beautiful in person.

Fall Fun

One of my favorite things to do with my family in October is get together and carve pumpkins.  I would say we have done this 5 out of the last 6 years and its always a big messy fun time.  This year, I was in town on a Monday and spent the whole day with my brother, Brandon, and cousin (who is more like a sister), Mandy and her three boys.  We went to a fruit farm, fed animals and carved and painted pumpkins with our family.  Usually we carve pumpkins, but this year I decided to buy some small pumpkins for the kids to paint.  My cousin's little boys are four, two and 9 months so painting was perfect for the little ones...myself and Mandy included ;)

Five Favorites: New fall recipes to try

Now that fall is officially here, I am so excited to bake and eat anything apple, cinnamon, pumpkin and streusel.  I have two recipes that I love baking, but thought I should spice up my recipe box this year and try some new treats.  If you are reading this husband, don't worry, I will still make your favorite apple crisp and apple cake at some point this season ;)

All new recipes courtesy of the wonderful, awesome and always addicting pinterest.

Breaking out my fall favorites

Here in northeast Ohio there has been a 30 degree temperature drop in the weather this week which pretty much jump started fall for me.

Bring. It. On.

Fall clothing, desserts, drinks, temperatures, colors...I love everything about it.  I might have already found time in the past 3 cool days to purchase my first pumpkin spice latte of the season.  {please don't judge!}   And I am not even going to deny that I am sitting at Starbucks right now writing blog posts for the week and listening to all the people order salty caramel mochas and apple ciders are not helping me stay away from the yummy drinks......Anyways, yes fall, we welcome you :)

Yesterday I was so excited, I wore my leggings (leggins is what comes out of my mouth when I try to say legg-ings), black boots, rabbit sweatshirt (remember, my all time favorite #1 article of clothing this year), mustard yellow knit head wrap, gold nail polish, red tinted lip balm and wavy air dried hair.  My favorite casual early fall outfit.

I am extra excited for this fall and all the fun stuff we have planned!  Autumn in the midwest is beautiful.
