Custom Birthday Invitations

Last month I had a request to do a custom order for a little girl's first birthday party!  The mother contacted me on etsy and said she would like my giraffe music note design to be the theme for the party and asked if I could make invitations, a onesie and fabric banner with the music note!  I was so excited to work on this and happy to have a special request from such a sweet customer.

This is only the second time I have made invitations {the first time doing it solo} and I knew I wanted them to still reflect Little Blue Feather's style and have a handmade look to them.  I can say that I underestimated the time it would take to hand make 20 invitations, but in the end I liked the way they turned out and am glad I had the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and try something new.  I wish I could attend the birthday party to see the black and white music theme!

LBF Photo Session With Christi Nicole Photography

Christi, from Christi Nicole Photography, held mini sessions a few weeks ago and brought with her a few Little Blue Feather hair accessories for the little girl's pictures.  The photos are too cute and I love seeing my accessories in action!  Christi is very talented and always looking for fun new photo sessions.  Check her out on facebook!

Great "Dane-a-saur"

Just when I thought this couple couldn't be any more adorable...

...they found Owen, the cutest Great Dane puppy I have ever laid eyes on.  He is handsome, sweet and is living the good life with his awesome new parents.  They are one little happy too cute for words family.

Aubrey and Adam call this his "dane-a-saur" face!  I had to laugh when I read that and then saw the photo.

Since Owen came into their lives, Aubrey and Adam realized they needed an XXXXXXXL dog bed for his 60 pounds {and growing} puppy body! Aubrey asked if I would make a dog bed cover for him and naturally I said yes and started thinking about ideas and colors!  In the end, it was plenty big enough, super cute...i mean rough and tough boy....and will be easy to care for.

It's funny how the bed looks so much smaller when he is laying on it :)  Congratulations on your new home Aubrey, Adam and Owen.  And I can't forget Owen's sister, Catherine {aka Catrin}

{Custom Orders} - Family Photo Session

This past week I have kept very busy with etsy sales and custom orders that came through my email.  My apartment is left covered with buttons, fabric scraps, thread and hair clips. All orders have now been shipped and it is time to relax with the hubby and look forward to a Saturday spent cleaning and reorganizing, which I am actually really excited to do.  Weird?  Maybe...

One of the orders I have really enjoyed working on is for Christi from Christi Nicole Photography.  Christi found Little Blue Feather at the Spring Fling a couple weekends ago and decided to order shirts with matching headbands for her kids upcoming photo session!  Her youngest girl is real girly and she suggested doing something princess related.  For some reason, I had a little difficulty with this at first.  I wanted to do a crown with a bird resting on it, but that didn't look right.  Next, I cut out too many pieces for the crown and it looked like a little too much compared to the other kids simple designs on their shirts.  After feeling a little stumped, I went to the craft supply store and found the cutest pink sparkly buttons!!   All this princess crown shirt needs now is a hot pink and teal tutu!

Christi and I also decided to team up for her photo session she is holding at Wegerzyn Garden.  I mailed some extra cute hair accessories for her to use as props in her photo shoots and in turn, she will share the wonderful photos to use for LBF sites!  You can book a time in her mini session at Wegerzyn Garden through her facebook fan page.  Enjoy :)

Creative Custom Orders

This year I have received some creative custom order requests from family, friends and etsy customers.  Custom orders are always really exciting, and sometimes they can make me a little anxious too!  I always want the design to meet or exceed the customer's expectations, while at the same time staying true to my brand identity.

Some of the custom order requests I have really enjoyed working on are shown below:

An O shirt for a little girl named Olive with a coordinating O animal, Ostrich.

A shirt for Olive's sister Celia with a burnt orange C and polka dot Cat.

This zebra has the best of both.  Polka dots and hand painted stripes!  This was made for my little cousin Olivia who loves zebras!

My most recent request came from my friend Abbey for her {a.d.o.r.a.b.l.e.} little boy Griffin. Abbey has really great style and she is always on the hunt for cute, unique boy items for little Griff; and I must add that she is an amazing supporter of little blue feather.  From day one she has been my biggest fan and I am so thankful for her.  She has encouraged me to do a stud muffin t-shirt and other fun sayings to applique on boy shirts, but a couple weeks ago she came to me with a request to do a mushroom "fun guy" (as opposed to fungi...) shirt for Griffin.  Of course, I was excited to make a shirt for her but also because this is something my husband always likes to say!  Whenever he thinks he is being really funny or telling jokes (most days) and I am not hysterically laughing at him he says "come on you know I am a fungi".....I have so much love for my 26 year old big kid husband!  I can not wait to see little Griffin in his mushroom shirt!

Do you have a fun guy in your life?!

Little Blue Feather's most interesting request:

A fire breathing T-Rex riding a harley, eating a steak and carrying a firearm.
-from my wonderful cousin Jimmy after finding out him and his wife were adding a boy to their family of all girls.  LBF has not figured out how to tackle this one yet!

Surprisingly, my brother-in-law asked me yesterday if LBF could do a fire breathing T-Rex also.  Must be a dad thing?!

Happy Monday!
