New pillows in the shop today

You might want to take a peak at my shop today for some new and updated listings!  I learned to sew pillows a short while ago and have become a little obsessed with making them lately!

Here is what I love about sewing pillows:
  • I don't need to keep size inventory
  • all I need is my favorite fabrics and my imagination
  • It's fun to make an item completely from scratch with endless possibilities
  • It is easy to incorporate upcycled fabrics and scraps into your pillow

When I purchase fabric, I usually buy between half a yard - 2 yards.  Sometimes this stinks because I run out and am unable to purchase more because of location (My favorite fabric store is in Columbus Ohio, Sew to Speak) or it has been replaced with something different.  On the positive side, it keeps them unique from the rest and keeps things fresh :)  So if you see one you love, you might want to snatch it up before I run out of the fabric!

Larger pillows are sold just as *pillow covers*.  This saves on shipping costs and allows you to change with the seasons :)

{I might have made a couple more that I just had to keep
 for my new couch at home.  You understand, right?! ;)}

I would love to hear your thoughts on the new pillows and what your favorite items are to sew!  I am always looking for new projects!

I hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend!  Thank you to facebook followers that took part in the exclusive coupon code over the weekend!  Orders will be shipped today and tomorrow!

{Inspiration Linky Party #5} - The Perfect Bathroom

Today marks week 5 of Gussy Sews inspiration link up party!

Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop!

I am sad to say that last week I did not participate in the link up party {major bummer}.  Last week was spent settling in to our new place and preparing for visitors and time just seemed to slip away.  I guess this just means I am even more excited for the linky party today!  ;)

This weeks prompt: the perfect bathroom

OH MY!  I saw this first photo and it was love at first sight!  Who knew you could experience love at first sight with a picture of a bathroom?!  The citrus walls and the stand alone tub, the rug, curtains, natural lighting, off white woodwork... love  <3

To complete my perfect bathroom, I would have fresh cut hydrangea in a little vase resting on the vanity.  I don't think any flower makes me smile the way hydrangeas do :)

What's your "perfect bathroom"?!

Lovely Little Cottage

Whenever I think of a cottage, whether it be a french cottage, country cottage or beach cottage, I always think of a cozy and well lit home with shabby chic style.  There is something calming and romantic about a cottage that makes it so lovely.  The best thing, you do not have to live on the coast or tucked away in a small village in london to enjoy the look of a shabby chic home.

You might ask, what exactly is "shabby chic"?
Shabby chic is an interior design style where items and furniture show a sign of age or distress, making it appear old or vintage.  Soft, floral designs are usually paired with the aged look adding a romantic feminine look; the chic part.

Yesterday on etsy, I put together my first treasury called Lovely Little Cottage.  Treasuries are a great way to find items with a specific color scheme or style that have been hand picked by others on etsy.  It is also a great way to feature people and their product that you love.  It is a wonderful feeling knowing someone hand picked you to be a part of their treasury!
