Recovering

This past week I have been recovering from my knee surgery.  It's been a lot of sleeping, a little bit of pup snuggling and a lot of boredom.

My surgery went really well on Wednesday, despite my nerves getting the best of me.  The doctor said my cartilage was able to be repaired instead of removed which is a great thing for the future of my knee.  This means I am not as likely to have as many problems with arthritis and fluid buildup in years to come.  What this does mean is that my recovery time is 6 weeks on crutches without any weight on my left knee.  Doctors orders, and I am going to make sure I don't let him down.

With this being said, I think I am going to hang out at my parents house a little longer.  I am going to take advantage of always having someone here to help me with something...just in case.  My parents house is perfect for the injured and the elderly with a first floor livable space, a ramp up to their front door, a walk in shower and a retired dad that is able to help me with anything I might need and keep me company.  Six weeks is a long time, and I think I will feel more stable on crutches and ready to go home after spending the first two weeks here at my parents.

This means I am hoping to return to my studio space next week!  My lead time will change to accommodate for my gimpy leg, but I will be excited to have things to do and fabric to play with.

As for now, my dad has a mini sewing station set up in their dining room for me to work on simple projects.  It's so cute; I sew, then he irons.

I'm really thankful for my parents and appreciate all the texts, comments and emails.  The pups and husband visit me and Stanlee even got the special treat of staying the night with me on Saturday.  I think he's really missed his momma ;)

More updates to come.

Stanlee Smiles

Stanlee is such an expressive pup.  Sometimes I look at him and think, you're so happy right now, aren't you?!  I love this picture of him when we were hiking in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park last spring.  I think this was one of those moments I will always remember as Stanlee looking really happy.  If you look closely, you can almost see a smile on his precious face.  I'm ready for warm weather and more adventures like this one.

Happy Birthday Stanlee

This weekend we celebrated Stanlee's 5th birthday.  I can't believe the little guy is five.  Kids, they just grow up so quickly...

Every year on Stanlee's birthday, I think about how cute he must have been as a puppy.  We adopted him when he was a little over a year old, and we never got to experience the puppy stage with him.  I'm sure some of my favorite Stanlee traits were even cuter on his 3 month old self!  There is something unique about this little guy.  Something that really has a hold of mine and husband's heart.

My computer holds hundreds (honestly, probably 1,000+) pictures of Stanlee.  I love looking through the photos of Stanlee after a product shoot and finding the pictures with the most expressive faces.  I thought it would be fun to add some captions to his pictures.  Because I think it's a common thing for pet owners to make up dialog and voices for their four legged family members ;) ;)

If you are new here and just getting to know Stanlee, these are the things that make us love him so very much:

  • His mismatched ears
  • His expressive face
  • The way he loves to curl up and snuggle under covers
  • The way his skin has black spots all over it, but his hair is white on top of the spots
  • When Stanlee gets so excited he hops around in circles
  • The fact that he is such a morning dog and is so excited to see us when we wake up
  • His loyalty

Happy 5th Stanlee!
